What is an epidemic?

Epidemic is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community, population or region at a particular time. Infectious diseases are disorders caused by organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. They are commonly spread from an infected person to another through touching, kissing, coughing or sneezing on someone who isn’t infected. Infectious diseases can spread at home, at work, visit to the hospital and outdoor activities. The outbreak of the novel covid-19 pandemic emphasizes the need to create more awareness on the measures to protect our health and the health of others around us from infectious diseases. The first measure and most important is having the culture of healthy living and maintain good personal hygiene. At Home

To stay healthy and free form diseases we should do the following regularly

      1. Keep your daily routine and have good rest.
      2. Exercise for 0.5-1 hour every day to improve your immune function.
      3. Wash your hands with soap under running water regularly. For effectiveness follow this procedure
        • Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
        • Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap.
        • Lather the backs of your hands.
        • Rub both your hands while interlocking your fingers.
        • Rub the back of your fingers.
        • Rub your thumbs and the ends of your wrists
        • Rinse both hands properly with water.

Commute to Work

  1. Wear a mask before you go out, you can follow the steps below to make sure you wear the mask properly.
  2. Step 1: Before putting on a mask, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
  3. Step 2: Check the integrity of your mask;
  • Step 3: Cover your mouth and nose with mask;
  1. Step 4-5: Make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask;
  2. Step 6: Wear the mask properly.

Notes:

Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.

 

  • Avoid taking public transport, try to commute to work by foot or by car (you can drive or take the taxi).
  • Test your body temperature before entering the working place.
  • Take the escalator or take the stairs, instead of taking the lift.
  • Make sure your office is well-ventilated. It’s suggested to keep the windows wide open as long as there are people in the office.
  • If there’s a meeting, it’s suggested to communicate with your work mates online, and wash your hands properly after passing the documents
  • Eat alone and wear your mask as soon as you finished your meal.
  • When leaving your office, wash your hands and make sure you wear your mask properly.

Go to the Hospital

  1. If you’re sick, wear the mask properly before going to the hospital.
  2. Go to hospital by car or by taxi to avoid contact with people.
  3. Tell the doctor if you had contact with affected people or had exposure history to virus before or not, so the doctor can give diagnostic conclusion soon.

Outdoors

We highly recommend you do not go out if possible, but if you have to please follow the guidelines below and try to avoid contact with people.

  1. Wear your mask properly before going out.
  2. Be more aware of your hand hygiene when you’re outside.
  3. Try not to go to the meeting places, which would increase the risk of COVID-19 infection.
  4. Go home when your business is finished, don’t hang out for long.
  5. When you are back to home, take off your coat and shoes, and spray the alcohol to sterilize your coat and shoes. Please don’t spray the alcohol to people since the alcohol may cause damage to the respiratory tract.
  6. Wash your hand properly
  7. Follow the guidelines below to remove your mask.

Step 1: Remove it from behind (do not touch the front of mask).

Step 2: Discard immediately in a closed bin.

Step 3: Clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
