The 50 × 72 mm Waterproof & X-Ray Detectable Plaster from Detectaplast is a professional-grade adhesive wound dressing engineered for environments with strict hygiene and safety requirements, especially in food processing, catering, and industrial kitchens. This plaster combines waterproof protection with dual detectability, meaning it can be identified both visually and by industrial inspection systems, including metal detectors and X-ray scanners. X-ray detectability is achieved through an embedded X-ray detectable thread made of high-density material such as barium sulphate, which ensures the plaster shows up clearly on X-ray inspection equipment and helps prevent contamination within the food supply chain.

The bright blue colour has been intentionally selected because it does not occur naturally in most food products, making the plaster easy to spot during visual checks. In addition, an aluminium foil strip beneath the absorbent wound pad ensures compatibility with conventional metal detection systems. This dual detection approach helps facilities comply with internationally recognised food safety standards such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), IFS (International Featured Standards), and BRC (British Retail Consortium), which require strict control over foreign matter entering production lines.

Made from a durable, waterproof polyurethane (PU) or polyethylene (PE) film, the plaster protects minor cuts and abrasions from water, dirt, and microbes while allowing the wound to breathe and remain dry. Strong, hypoallergenic adhesive ensures reliable adhesion even in wet or humid conditions, and the absorbent wound pad is designed not to stick to the wound, facilitating easy and comfortable removal. These plasters are typically supplied in boxes of 50 pieces, where the 50 × 72 mm size is suitable for covering moderately sized injuries on hands or fingers, balancing protective coverage with user comfort.
