Steps to Install Lateral Support

1. Prepare the Components

  • Unpack the lateral support(s) and any included hardware: screws, bolts, washers, and mounting brackets.

  • Ensure you have the correct tools (typically an Allen wrench, screwdriver, or small socket wrench).

  • Clear the area around the table to avoid obstruction.

2. Identify Mounting Points

  • Locate the pre-drilled holes or slots on the side of the table where the lateral supports attach.

  • Some tables have adjustable height brackets; ensure you choose the correct position for your patient’s body size.

3. Attach Mounting Bracket (if separate)

  • If the lateral support uses a separate bracket, align it with the pre-drilled holes.

  • Secure it loosely first, using bolts/washers to allow slight adjustment.

4. Insert the Lateral Support

  • Slide the lateral support rod or pad into the bracket or mount.

  • Ensure it is fully seated and aligned parallel to the table.

  • Check that the pad or arm is oriented correctly: the cushion should face the patient, flat side toward the table.

5. Tighten the Bolts

  • Once the lateral support is in the correct position, tighten all bolts securely.

  • Avoid over-tightening to prevent stripping threads or damaging the support.

6. Test Adjustability

  • If the support is adjustable (height or angle), move it through its full range to ensure smooth operation.

  • Confirm it locks securely at each position and doesn’t wobble.

7. Safety Check

  • Press lightly on the support to verify stability.

  • Make sure it doesn’t interfere with table tilt, footplates, or patient entry/exit.

  • Check all bolts periodically during use, especially before sessions.
